James Inglis Footwear was founded in 1943 in the Scottish Borders town of Peebles supplying stylish gents and ladies footwear to the local community.

From this modest background the business was passed to son Richard, who together with his wife Marie-Rose expanded the business providing unique designer ladies and gents footwear.

The groundbreaking mail order catalogue specialising in ladies narrow fitting footwear was launched in 1991 with just 12 pages. The latest James Inglis catalogue now boasts 44 pages and over 160 styles in stylish, quality narrow fitting ladies shoes with everything from fashionable footwear to wellie boots!

Online shopping was introduced in 1997 and now the whole catalogue can be viewed and purchased online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Through continually reinvesting profits in improving all aspects of our business from product sourcing and presentation to delivery and returns, the business has grown to a point where it’s had to expand three times and has now seen the completion of a new Mail Order and Retail complex.

Every day we look for new ways to enhance the customer experience and we are always looking for new ways to reach that goal.

A philosophy of quality, fit, fashion and outstanding service has seen business grow substantially over the years and helped our company receive an industry recognised reputation. The current Women’s Merchandiser- Dwayne Inglis - the grandson of James Inglis continues the values and reputation passed down the generations.
