James Inglis is a family business established in 1943 in the Scottish Borders town of Peebles. Originally started by my father selling ladies and gents footwear as well as handling shoe repairs. I joined my father in the business in 1959 and then later was joined by my wife, Marie-Rose and now our son, Dwayne.
From these humble beginnings we have succeeded in expanding our business several times. However, it was during 1989 and the decline of the British footwear industry that we noticed a niche market in narrow fitting ladies footwear. This resulted in the launch of our first ground-breaking Mail Order catalogue in 1991.
Today our business has developed in both catalogue, e-commerce and retail to such a degree that we built a new Mail Order and Retail complex to cope with our business growth.
